as title, im opening a
business bank account, any recommendations or scare stories, NOT LLOYDS TSB, i
opened an account with them on 01-11-11, paid a £60k investment in on the 4th,
then another £12k in on the 29th, went to transfer £32 out to part purchase a
flat as im investing in that sort of thing now, only to be told i cant get it
out as my son who is a minor shareholder hasnt signed a form, he lives in prague
and has just started a 3 month holiday in the algarve so he cant get his
passport as it is in prague, to his local bank to have it verified, so i have
had to pull out of the deal, and have lost about £10k profit
icon_cry.gif
they are simply
not interested and have said as he hasnt signed the form we cant get the cash
out, but nobody told us he needed to sign, in fact i specifically asked as we
knew it would be a prob and was told no, only the major shareholder, me, needs
to sign, so i need another bank as im shutting the TSB account ( i was well
impressed to be told by them that it can take 3 weeks to get the £72k back, you
can imagine how that conversation went this morning)
cheers for any advice,
or are they all as bad as each other, will post this on other forums as well so
you might see it somewhere else

i need to learn it all and become a tutor ........🙂

i am with HSBC free banking for 1.5 year

Do you not need your passport when traveling between prague and the algarve ?

would not go away for 3 months without passport for id anyway

The bank is looking after your as well as their interests, you may have been hit with a jobs worth but when you start throwing this kind of money about, especially when such a large % of companies liquid assets is in question,it is important that relevant paperwork is in place, look from the other side of the fence, what if your son did not know about the deal, the bank would of been a hero to him,he maybe a small shareholder but small shareholders can end up with big debts from the company

Anyway,I have found all banks are a much of a muchness, however I like Barclays,if your business is nice and solvent ,they treat you very well,if you divert from that platform, they, like all turn into bullies

Try to look on the bright side, maybe deal was not as good as you think and you will find out later ,it was good you never got involved, maybe it was not the bank but fate looking after you....................................but then again

imho

haha no you dont, he bought his girlfriend a SLK merc when she passed her test last month so they decided to drive to take her new car with them, as they have 2 dogs they took 5 days and seen some sights on the way down,
i appreciate the need for audits and transparency, my moan was if they had told us he needed to sign the form 4 weeks ago we could have sorted it all out

he must be really rich , slk for the girlfriend and was it ferarry or porsh for him self for x mas

he has ordered a lamborgini spyder, yes he is doing very well, its all computer stuff, and i'm proud of what he has managed, he will be 30 in march and has worked very hard since he was young, he runs a load of successful internet companies, web design, SEO, footy websites, discount voucher sites, all sorts, (his first venture when he was 15-16 was making false ID's for nearly the whole school year, mum wasnt impressed) however after that sortee he went to uni to do web design stuff, then chucked it after a yr as he was offered a job and it went from there, so now he has made a few quid we are starting a property investment company to hopefully sort his old da out with an early retirement plan haha

Your (language removed) us all off now mate.:winkiss:

Honestly I am very jealous of your situation but success is nothing to be ashamed of.
Good on you mate.

I would say go with a global bank such as HSBC or Santander as they have branches everywhere and this problem should not arise again.

Do NOT go to Santander, yes they're global but customer service is non existant.

and i was just going to rave of how impressed i am with them , moved from barclays in the summer and have gripes at with them.plus its all free

cheers for all the positive comments, bank choice is now a headache, suppose i expected to get mixed reviews of each bank as i honestly think they are all mince, they just done care about the customers

I must admit I have only dealt with banks with personal accounts, not business ones. Nationwide are pretty good and the co-op are absolutely amazing, everytime I've had a problem they've sorted it instantly.

What about the Airdrie bank? Local enough for you and still have a personal service. No faceless call centres

You could always try the COOP. I'm with Lloyds after being with RBS but they are all much the same tbh. Never had much problem taking money out but then again I only take out thousands of (pence) at a time..
