Calling Power Flushing Pro's

View the thread, titled "Calling Power Flushing Pro's" which is posted in UK Plumbers Forums on UK Plumbers Forums.

Difference is flat pack, you could have had the same results in around half that time with a powerflushing machine. Relying on a standard 15/50-15/60 just wont get the same results. The advertising standards agency recently upheld a series of complaints against Magnacleanse for claiming performance that equalled a powerflush which as it turns out is completely unproven.

Thats exactly what they were claiming, did you not read the article you posted?

"we considered the claim "more effective power-flushing results" had not been
substantiated. We concluded that the ad breached the Code."

The claim made by Adey is rubbish and I have tried my Magnacleanse with and without my Fernox P/F machine and the difference the P/F machine makes is amazining. Also the addition of the Magnacleanse to my P/F is amazing. They work very well together.
The set up above is the best and fastest way to flush a system that has a problem with sludge. If the system is mildly dirty then a flush through with mains water would do the job. With a proper powerfush machine it is the velosity of water and the option to change the flow direction at a pull of a lever to loosen stubben deposits that does the job properly. I have never used a vibraclean attachment and I personly think you are asking for trouble doing so. The above set up works best with the boiler on if posible. I use Kamco FX2 with the best results, I have tried Fernox and Sentilnel products and found that one best.
For an average property of 3-4 beds say 8-10 rads it is still a days work, I test and record the results for each rad as I go.
The other proplem that needs to be addressed when powerflushing is the reason the system go sludged up in first place and put it right, which is what I do. It could be the pump fitted in the wrong position or the feed and vent crossed over. This needs to be corrected or in 6 months the system will be a bad again.
I did a P/F at a property, the rads getting replaced ever 2-3 months because of pin holes. The customer said "powerfushing wont work, we've had it done before" I said well give it a go and we will find the reason why its happening as well.
So we started getting all the equipement out "what is all that stuff for? the previous plumber powerfushed without the need for all that stuff, all he had was an hose" she said
Any way job flushed and system changed to sealed with the adding of expansion vessel etc. 2 new rads fitted as pin holed. That was over 2 yrs ago and she has never had a problem since.
Sorry for the lenght of this post its turning into a mills and boon saga.

And I posted in the wrong thread! will repost in the correct thread

Without wanting to dampen your plans for world Magnacleanse domination you may want to read up on this website some of the feedback from installers who have trialled it. Theres a reason a powerflushing machine costs £700 and a magnacleanse costs £300.
I have a magnacleanse and I am disappointed with it.. Lids leak ,connection are not good and also leak..
i would never buy another adey product ever again.

i flush with a magnaclense and 3 bar pump and use the vibraclean with chemicals on every system i do (for myself) without the new boiler in situ and fit some sort of boiler protection whether it be a TF1, Spirotech, Magnaclean etc and have never had a problem with debris / sludge in one of my systems.

I also use the Kamco CF90 when i do work for a specific company which equally works well but i find alot more time consuming. ive never used them together as of yet.

whether you use the magnacleanse / powerflush approach, as long as you get as much sludge out of the system as you possibly can and double check you leave a neutral system before inhibiting & also use some sort of boiler protection there shouldnt be any problems what so ever.

ahh yeh one thing that is annoying with them you dont get a spanner for the lids of the magnacleanse like you do the magnaclean and i too have had them leak on occasion but were plumbers! thats the nature of the beast!!

Mine leaked on the second job, adey stuff is cheap rubbish.
I have stopped using mine. If anybody wants one let me know lol

I had a magnacleanse when they first came out a few years back.....the connecting s/s hose was cross threaded on one of the canisters and whilst i was opening up all the rad valves it leaked....quite bad! I phoned up adey and complained and they sent me a new s/s hose and gave me a choice of a magnaclean filter or a new magnacleanse as a bit of compo....needless to say i had a new magnacleanse and both of them went on fleabay and i switched to kamco!!!
