Can i switch to cold water mains for upstairs taps

View the thread, titled "Can i switch to cold water mains for upstairs taps" which is posted in Air Sourced Heat Pumps Advice Forum on UK Plumbers Forums.

Hi,

sorry another question, im replacing my cold water tank and was wondering if there are any reasons not to switch the upstairs cold water taps to mains water rather than an indirect tank feed. The cold water tank feeds 2 taps and a shower. I have a mains pipe very close so would not be a big job. Any advice much appreciated!

Thanks

Marc

The thermostatic balance on the shower would be upset by mains pressure cold water. Outlet from new tank to shower needs to be lower than outlet to DHW cylinder to protect against scalding.
