Hi all I am just after a bit of advice.
I'm buying a new house with a downstairs bathroom. I can not see a vent pipe on the outside of the property or an AAV in the loft. It's a terraced house, so thought maybe it shares the neighbours vent stack?

It look like all the waste pipes go down, directly into the sewer, rather than joining a soil pipe beforehand.

Can terraced houses share vent pipes?

Many thanks!

Afaik it’s how they were done years ago, and can be done now. They only need so many ventilating stacks. Have a read of building regulations approved document H.

Any leg over a certain size should have an AAV but only the end of the run should be naturally vented (i have no idea how many houses you can put on one vent). I have that exact diagram in my textbook.

You may not be able to see an AAV but you may have one.

If the stacks are only short in length you can technically get away without one but I've never been a fan
