Can you fit flexi pan connector directly into clay soil pipe?

Hi, fitting a back to wall toilet in a small cloakroom. The soil pipe is a vertical clay pipe about 20cm from the wall and so I will have to build boxing to be able to fit the toilet to the wall (this will hold the concealed cistern). I bought a flexi 90deg pan connector for back-to-wall toilets, it uses a jubilee clip to securely hold on to the toilet spigot when fitting the toilet (because it's all hidden a regular pan connector might slip off without noticing when the toilet is pushed into place, so this feel much safer). My question is, is it OK to push the pan connector directly into the clay drain pipe, or do I need a drain connector meant for connecting to clay pipes in between? The problem is that the drain connector I have is quite tall and so is the pan connector, meaning that there isn't enough vertical space to fit both without either raising the floor by about an inch (!) or chipping off quite a big section of the top of the clay soil pipe (it looks as if the original collar has already been chipped off during a previous installation). Alternatively, I could just remove the drain connector and stick the pan connector directly into the clay pipe - could this be a problem in any way? (The rubber seals of the pan connector look like they are the same dimension as the pan connector, so I imagine the fit would be just as good)? If not, what would be the right way forward (I don't fancy ripping out the clay pipe if I can avoid it).

Providing there is a finned seal and the dimensions are the same, then straight onto clay will be ok
