Hi
I am about to change 2 valves on a radiator, not the normal steel one but one that has a heater matrix
which heats and there is a fan in it with different settings.I don't know if you can still buy these
but the one i have is a myson. What i wanted to know is it the same principal if i was to use the rubber bung
method to change the valves as in the case with normal steel panel rads?Reason for changing valves is round
the screws for isolating them they are leaking and i have tried everything to cure the leaks.Nothing works.

Hi
Job now done without calling in the professinals.Cost: price of isolating valve

well done glad u figured out what to do and had the confidence to do it, now i hope u used a smear of Jet Blue on those olives when put everything back together!

I did have a "professional" in to reroute some heating pipes that one of his employees had badly installed. Without releasing any pressure on the (sealed, combi) heating circuit, he cuts into the first pipe. Fortunately, I was still renovating the property, so no carpets down and still needed repainting. Nevertheless, I was not amused and had to quickly find buckets to minimise the mess. He will not be getting any more work from me.

Oh Dear - Epic Fail for the so called plumber that cut into pressurised system

Vote with your wallet.

I have - a couple of times since and not been disappointed!

I couldn't quite believe that he did it - what made it worse was that he didn't seem too bothered. Maybe he was a little annoyed at having to do remedial work, but if it had been done properly in the first place, I wouldn't have called him back. I could have done a better job myself!

to be honest, if the system didnt have much pressure in it, then i can empathise with the plumb for cutting into a live pipe, to save time draining down to then cut into the pipe.

Having said that i dont condone that practice as its lazy and not a proper way of doing things.

If when i get my apprentice, i catch him or her doing that i shall rap thier knuckles with some hot copper......
