Just had a quote of £600 supplied and fitted for 4 new continental van tyres. Anyone know if it's worth shelling out for branded ones, or should I just go for the economy ones at £360 fitted? Never bought van tyres before but they all seem very expensive to me for bits of rubber!

if i was driving a bmw or bently or the family car with young uns in, then get good ones.

for a van?...your lucky if they last a year without going over a nail etc.

i always bought part used from a good place near me who always did a good service and sure enough not one tyre lasted more than 18months without being punctured.

remolds are good enough for the work van if your not doing over 80mph. for £45.

I got my contis off eBay, £70 each which was a bargain. Would have gone budget, but my tyres are a strange size so couldn't get any.

Its not worth buying quality tires unless your doing motorway mileage or high speeds. Like redsaw says you rarely wear them out, power steering and curbs wear mine out.

I'm not telling you how to spend your money but whenever it's tyre change time for me I always think cheap.

Then, in the more sensible moment, I think better quality = better stopping power = missing that child or better grip in the wet.

I've always felt that remoulds should be banned but maybe that's me.

i agree with dkia, i had 2 cheap budget tyres on the front of the caddy, ended up taken them off,
i'd go as far as saying they were dangerous in the wet and should have been banned, there was next to no grip
they were ok in dry though, ended up changing them to michelins.
better to pay the extra £ for a good brand, it's not that much extra, there's a noticeable difference imo

each tyre is better at one or the other, wet, snow, or dry! thats why f1 change theirs to suit conditions. there is no best of any..
on my landy, michellins at £140 a corner, they resemble tractor tyres.lol.
michellins are longer wearing than any though.

also,
depends how you drive imo.

Hankooks seem to be a half decent good value tyre from past experiences. About 65-70 a corner fitted.

And on the other hand, just fitted four tyres to the land cruiser.

£700!!

Ouch!!!

Only three tyres on this.

It's a Supervan III.
I used to have one back in the 70's, put council paving slabs in the back to stabilise it.
Good little motor tho, nippy, economical, cheap tax and insurance.

i have used them and they are 100% , i got my self a set of bridgstone duravis 215/65/16 at £210 i think it was and got them fitted for £15 each at local garage

Didnt the front wheel lift off the ground with more than one slab in the back.
