Gas Engineer
hi all , having my first gas safe inspection in a few weeks, is there a checklist or something you have to hand when servicing boilers or doing landlord checks ect, I mean just a laminated one you keep to hand with say gas rate formulas , earthling sizes - distances , that kind of thing, as im not doing this day in day out and am a little somehow nervous on some stuff. I feel sometimes that id like list to hand of some sort. I know that the info id require on the specific appliance would be in the M.I tho. another question is do any of you keep spare m.I,s on the van? I ask the customer on the phone if they have m.i for the appliance, mostly the answer is "no". so I print them off, now I usually keep them in the van after I've finished, because its technically my own document as I've printed it off, also if the they decide to get a different engineer the following year I like to think that id create a bit of trouble-inconvenience for him and the customer if he arrives at the property and there is none present. but is what im doing legal? I know that if there is one at the property that I should leave it there, but if there is none there to start off with , and I have one on the van then am I doing anything wrong? does anbody charge for them and leave them there? thanks

btw I do have the corgi books on the van, but I don't like going thru them all just to double check something im 99% sure on.

Nothing wrong with using your books.Their not their to trip you up so don't worry. As long as you have the stuff to do the job then that's all you need. I wouldn't print MI's off for the customer. Most of the info for basic safety checks are on the data badge anyway and if your not sure you can ring the manufacturer. It doesn't matter if you don't know everything off the top of your head as long as you know how to get the info

have MI open as your service the appliance, if no MI then download them before starting work.

aswell as following MI fill out a landlords type cert as you go and you wont miss any checks that you need to do.
