Choice of Flushing Mechanism

First post from a reasonbly competent DIYer.

I wish to replace a toilet cistern syphon flush with a button operated dual flush mechanism.

I've narrowed my search to :-

Siamp Optima 50
Fluidmaster
Wirquin

A friend has recently fitted the Wirquin but, although it flushes ok, he is having trouble getting the half flush to work (it full flushes instead) and I also have been unable to fathom why. So I have more or less ruled this one out.

Does anyone have experience of the Siamp or Fluidmaster (similar price on-line and both appear to have separate adjustments for half and full flush volumes)?

My current toilet is close-coupled and the cistern has a front mounted (lever) hole.

I have no concerns about the fitting - I fitted the syphon unit myself some years ago.

Doubt you will find many buttons which will fit in a lever hole - best to go and look at the merchants as opposed to buying on the internet and guessing. Obviously you need the cable type as well.

Have you considered a dual flush lever syphon?

Since posting my query, my friend with the Wirquin has worked out why the half flush didn't work so the following may be useful for future Wirquin installers.

He found that whereas the push button mechanism was fixed so that the buttons were vertically aligned, the cable entering the mechanism was about 10 degrees off the vertical. The orientation of the push button mechanism relative to the cable input direction is critical. Rotating the push button mechanism about 10 degrees so that it aligns correctly with the cable has solved the problem - both full and half flush now work.

Back to my decision. I will probably now go for the Wirquin - it is readily available and seems to flush adequately
