Hi, we've recently had a new boiler installed and unfortunately we've had lots of issues with our plumber. He has left with full final payment (more than quoted without discussion) and left us no paperwork, has done no gas tests, hasnt registered the boiler woth gas safe or building control we have no manual, proof of purchase, installation or warranty. It was installed over 60 days ago. Could someone please advise on legally what he has to give us as this unfortunately I will be having to pursue this further. Thank you in advance

Is he currently registered on the Gas Safe Register?

Check there then it's citizen's advice I'm afraid.

The only legal advice we can give you is do not use the boiler if it hasn't been commissioned and especially if the gas pipework hasn't been tested.

I would also advise on getting a new gsr to give you and independant report to reinforce your case.

whereabouts are you? one of us might be local to you, and we're too scared to do any dodgy work in case everyone else finds out about it! (That was tongue in cheek! We're all thoroughly professional and very qualified.)

Not until weeks after work was finished and we'd paid up plus disagreement was about bathrool done after boiler. He's GS registered I've checked. How often do you register work online woth Gas Safe online and it never actually gets registered? ?

is customer responsibility to insure that they are using competent person to do gas work , its customer responsibility to insure all work gets notified to building control

Yes I ensured he was registered to work. Are there no legal requirements for him to log or register work anywhere? Or shouldn't customer be informed if they're not registering themselves? Also shouldn't customer have records of gas tests being done??

I only have an invoice of work and boiler manual I've now found stuffed away but other than that we've been left or given nothing?

Unless you have proof of commissioning or pipework test in your possession you MUST assume neither has taken place.

And if that's the case you are potentially in extreme danger!

Unfortunately i hear this more often than not these days their seems to be alot of idiot plumbs about now and sounds like you had one iv87. Its difficult for the good plumbs to sell themselves to a cust as a skilled genuine tradesmen when you have mr giftofthegab talking the talk and happy to bash it in and go .

Not sure what you can do other than lesson learnt imho

Whereabouts are you IV?

You really need a new GSR in to look at it all, and fairly sharpish.....

Ive learnt believe me and we've now found a fantastic plumber!! However my concerns are about what paperwork and proof we should have? ?

Don't see how there can be 2 sides when I'm only asking for clarity on what we should have as consumers from a so called professional as the gentleman above mentioned is making things harder for the good, safe and honest plumbers

Now you have found the manual look in the back of it there should be a page with a benchmark form on it. This is where the plumber should have recorded the results of his tests and commissioning.
