Does anyone know the regs on these, ie if one is not present. If so are there any TB on this. Had a search on GS website and couldn't find anything.

You're talking about the spillage stat. It's covered under mi's.

Basically the mi's state it must be fitted. The appliance must not used if it's not.
 
I've seen companies fitting these 4-5 years after appliances have been installed. I thought maybe it was a new thing. has it got any thing to do with shared flues? I know in commercial catering a interlock has to be provided on the from fan to appliances but is this not the case on open flued commercial appliances?
 
No it's not.

But having said that if a flue distillation system or a forced draught system for supply air is fitted then air pressure switches must be fitted to act as a safety interlock.

But again that's down to mi's rather than regulations.
