I think the control stat on my boiler (Grant Multipass, Oil, Vented Indirect system) might be faulty.

If I set the dial of the control stat to 65C, the temperature at which it clicks off is about 70C and the temperature it clicks on is about 56C.

If I set the dial to 75C, it tends to click off at 82C and I have seen it click off at 88C, it then clicks on in the low 60's C.

Of course when it clicks off, the temperature still rises a few more degrees. But I have seen that when it clicks off at high temperatures such as 88C, the temperature rises a lot, getting to 107C one time.

Does this sound normal or odd for the control stat?

I am measuring the temperature using a Digitron 2202T by sticking the thermocouple into the same hole as the control and overheat stats.

Thoughts?
