hi, i've been working in the plumbing and gas indusrty for the last 3 years now but my gas work was mainly concentrated on boilers, so i'm not as good with cookers and fires as i am with boilers as you can appriciate.

so the problem i need help with is the gas pressure seems to be low on the cooker, as in each ring you light the flame reduces more and more, and when you light the oven aswell there is practically no flame!! ive checked the working and standing pressure and its all fine at the meter..the customer says its been happening for the last few months...

any ideas??

thanks

if its only started recently it is pointing to something changing,
the pipe may well be undersized and adding to the problem.

if the bayonet is ok, has the gas pipe been dented?

recently decommissioning a gas hob as part of a kitchen refit, took the pipe out back to the meter, just as well, pipe out the wall round the house and had been almost squashed flat with the car bumper pressing on it. never tested the hob as it was coming out, but can't of been good..:frown2:

Nice one guys much appriciated..so you dont think it will be any fault with the cooker?? i cant get any pics at the moment but the they are low to begin with and even lower with every ring lit

Even though you have said that the working and standing pressures are fine, that cannot be!! As you have already witnessed, the more rings you turn on, the more the flames reduce so the cooker cannot for 1 reason or another be recieving adequate pressure. You said you did a working pressure at the meter, did you do a working pressure on the appliance its self?? im sure you will find that the pressure is not within 1mbar of the working pressure at the meter, this tells you that its either a pipe sizing issue or as this has only happened in the last few months, something has been changed so either baynot not plugged in correctly or flexi kinked etc

Have you checked other gas appliances in the property ? I had issue few months ago where flames were low on hob when boiler fired up ,,,,turned out it was the ecv ,,,although appeared open when lookesd at handle the actual ball inside wasnt open fully .
