Hello. I’m a newbie here, so I apologise in advance if, despite my good intentions, I breach any rules or etiquette.
I’m replacing a monobloc bath shower mixer tap (Ideal Standard - I.S.). Now I’ve got the old tap out, I discover that the cutout in the bath is about 51mm dia. Unfortunately, the replacement I.S. tap is slimmer than that; just slim enough, in fact, to fall into the hole. It’s too late to return the replacement tap, so I’m asking, please, whether it’s possible to buy an off-the-peg circular chrome plate/washer that would be strong enough to fix the tap through and that would bridge the cutout sufficiently, while allowing an inner dia. of about 32mm, to allow the tails and threaded bar to pass through. I see plenty of chrome-finish plastic shrouds, but that’s not what I need. Many thanks.

Hello underwater,

a photo would be wise here, so we can recommend the correct product (if there is one).

Edit: try searching for an escutcheon plate

This type of thing (32mm version)
Guess you don't really need the upstanding 'ring', but if it's polished chrome on the back, could use them upside-down!
EDIT; Just noticed it's plastic - not such a good idea! Just need to find a metal version🤔
Otherwise search for 'tap rosette'

There used to be a seller on eBay who would make thick brass washers to your required dimensions, and have them chrome plated & polished. Excellent service that got me out of trouble!
