DIY Garden Hose - Which approach is best?

Hi,

I want to install a garden hose from my kitchen to my backyard, preferably without having to hire a plumber. Thus I would rather not have to mess around below the sink.

I have a long necked spray-tap head, which is removeable. Here are some pictures:

So I would like to know, would it be better to purchase something like this:



Or to get a fitting installed on the tap base?

I want the water to flow with full pressure without leaks, and I read some reviews for tap head universal connectors on Amazon, suggesting leak and pressure problems.

Is it possible - and better - to get a connector fitted to the tap base. If so what connector would I need?

How often and for how long a period of time will you be using it? With no plumbing experience I guess picture 5 is best for you.

I would use it fairly often to water some plants, and I'd use it to clean with high pressure once a month.

Okay. Is there no standard tap fitting I could put onto the tap base, and then attach the hose to that? Once I remove the tap head, I can still use the cold/hot water as normal to control flow.

Ok I see. I think picture 5 is best for now then. By high pressure, I meant the tap on full blast (which might cause the universal fitting to leak), although I did consider something like this:

I think that's beyond my knowledge and capabilities at this point.

Up to you mate but you're probably best off getting an out door tap fitted in line with water regs that won't leak.

First looking at the photos you could do with a new tap ! Second why not just get a couple of quotes to fit a proper garden tap ? it may be cheaper then you think.

Oh Dear,
Best as previously mentioned to get a proper outside tap that complies with water regs fitted, that way you would not have to worry about sink tap adaptor leaking and pouring/spraying water all over your kitchen.
Also if you had the outside tap fitted at same time as main tap if you were changing that then the cost could be minimised.
The total cost would not be too expensive compared to having to replace parts of the kitchen that could become water logged by using the adaptor that then leaks/sprays everywhere,

P.S. Don't go for the flexi diy kit version, get it done properly in 15mm copper sleeved as it goes through the wall, no probs after that

Any plastic solutions have a limited life time !
( Any temporary stuff .. I trust with 2 people ) 1 uses ( other checks for leaks / spray )

Get a plumber in to do the job properly, you'll be better off in the long run

Go to your local plumbers merchant & ask for a tap base to outside tap adapter, should not be more than £5
