Do we still recharge expansion vessel with pump?

If you're gonna change one best to practice on an old EV. Easy to change if you've got access, just like changing a tyre schrader 🙂

It all depends on which boiler as to whether i touch the iso's or not!! Usually if the EV's gone so has the PRV. I usually leaver that open and let it run till it stops, then as I pump up the EV, it allows the water to escape and keeps the system pressure atmospheric 🙂

With nitrogen charged vessels, I assume u have to change to a new EV if it's discharged?

Nitrogen molecules are bigger than oxygen/air molecules so keeps charge longer. That's all it is. Just like some of the fancy makes of cars have their tyres done with this.

I always recomend changing vessel and prv if its gone flat. I find if you recharge it a few months down the line it will loose air again. If its lost air than there must be a fault with the vessel surely? I never ever touch the valves under the boiler, just knock the pressure off and then recharge

I do not recall a call back(within the year anyway) for an E/V that I have attended to and recharged. And I have done many. The new Promaxes tend to be quite popular for it. Don't know if it is a faulty batch of schrader or it is not tight enough and loosing charge within 1-2 years.

You must confirm vessel is not burst, change schrader, recharge to 1bar approx., job done!
