do any I you guys fit a pressure test point to gas pipe as close to the boiler as possible?

The reason I’m asking is I’ve been asked to quote to fit a Worcester green star compact 38kw combie boiler, I’ve done my pipe sizing which I hope is correct (approx 15m of pipe including fittings) so I will be upgrading the gas from the meter from 22mm to 28mm. No other appliances connected.

On looking at the MIs they ask for 19 to 23mb from the meter (standard for NG) and a one 1mb drop from the meter to the inlet (standard again) And then a 1.5 mb drop from the boiler inlet to the gas valve.

As far as I know unless you fit a test point under the boiler how can you get the inlet pressure? As the only other reading you can get is from the meter to the gas valve.

I think my pipe sizing should be accurate but I don’t see how I can confirm this with out putting an additional test point on allowing to check for a 1mb drop between meter and appliance.

Forgive me if I’m missing the obvious.

yes and no depends on the boiler

Worcester no you dont just use your inlet test point

vaillant require them as there drop is stupid (4.5 mbar)

ideal are ok i think

tbh its mostly vaillants

your looking for a max of a 2.5mbar drop on a Worcester, meter to gas valve test point

Thanks for the reply. Is it me or do the MIs on a Worcester seem a bit confusing ill attach the images in question. Going by what they are saying (in my head) it looks as tho they want an inlet test point.

Shauns correct, as long as you dont have more than a 2.5mb drop from meter to inlet test point on gas valve you will be good.

In your opinion do you think the image i posted Worcester appear to be asking for a inlet test point?

I’m going to go with the 2.5mb drop as the image also indicats this ok and going by both of your opinions.

I usually fit ideal logics and in the MIs (of the top of my head) they give a chart to work out the losses due to (I think) the restriction in the gas cock.

I don't fit a test point when fitting a Worcester unless I am getting unusual results after fitting the boiler and then use it more for diagnosis. As others have said, just not more than 2.5mb difference from the meter to the gas valve inlet.
