air testing is dangerous compared to using wata, especially if you dont have control of the property.

the damage a push fit cap end could do at just a few bar is scary.

Should be tested at 1.5 times maximum working pressure. Plastics manufacturers may wan't it tested to a higher pressure. I believe JG ask for ten bar to set the fittings.

and i think its polypipe or hep who require 16 bar...

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between bussing a cap in front of 5 bar of air or 5 bar of water?

the difference is the energy released. Air/gases are compressed under pressure. think of a spray can, such a small bottle but such alot of energy/volume released before it dies. So imagine all that energy pushing a small item torwards a person.

if you had a 1litre bottle of water and the same of air it would take alot more energy to get the bottle of air to 10bar compared to the water.

Need to get a new pressure gauge for my rp50 rothenberger. Spoke to the big sheds about replacement parts for these but no joy.

Air compresses, water dose not. WRAS book asks for wet test 1.5 working pressure, I think.
