Hi, the hot tap on this mixer tap has stopped turning, and I am trying to get them apart to replace the washer, but firstly I can't get the cap off the tap, using a lot of force and a stanley all the way around and a knife to prise it off, all that is happening is whole tap block is moving and cap stays stuck. Is there another way to repave these taps? Again looks like they are in two halves but tap body is round and I can't unscrew that either. Pics attached.

Thanks

You screw off the 10mm disc at the top of the tap this should reveal a screw? Unscrew that and it will let you pull covering head off to reveal body

Hi, thanks for that, feel a right numpty now, didn't think theyd be screwed on. Cheers

You said the hot tap "has stopped turning" ?
If it isn't turning, then you might have trouble with the tap works, which is very common on the hot side as the bottom O ring inside the works drys up, wears a bit or a lot.
Unless you are lucky to get new works to fit tap head etc, then you might need to take the works apart & silicone grease them.

Hi turned water off! Got the tap head off to reveal the top of the workings, but no matter what I try I cant get the rest of the tap apart. The cone bit that covers it is well and truly stuck and there is nothing to get a grip with. I have tried a jar opener and a towel around it with some mould grips but nothing moves and I can't get it off. Also now to compound my problems the mains stop tap has broken I think, it turns to a certain point back on but then feels really loose and water pressure is not high. Any ideas on how to get bath tap apart? Thanks

There comes a time when it's cheaper and less hassle all round to call a professional. I think you may have reached that point!

Think you need a plumber!
The cone bit can be threaded at base so need turned anticlockwise. Try wrapping some electricians tape around it to give your hand grip.
Can also just be a snap down type which prise off, but better assume it's screwed on first.
