Hey guys. after months and months of searching i finally bought a van, i think i got it for a reasonable price but was wondering what you guys think.

its a 2003 ford transit 280 swb with 105k miles,

i got it for £2k cash and a part ex on my vauxhall combo 1.7di with 102k miles

the new (to me) van needs ply lining and racking etc but i thought it wasnt to bad a deal, also just had a new clutch fitted about a month ago. and a free pipe carrier thrown in lol.

im also wondering what i can get out of it mileage wise as ive never had a van that i intend to keep until its death. although i have heard theyll do around 200k+

you had a very good deal, clutches on these are big bucks it has a duel mass flywheel but a conversion kits available some advice the cable linkage mechanism under the bonnet bolted to the box sticks soak it in 3 in 1 oil, keep it clean and get the underside protected with waxoyel etc these vans rust terrible out of site they also go under the side door on the sill, and finally the most worrying fault i will pm you this one as it concerns security

dont think ill be buying this now, just checked online at the mot history. 2006 it had 96k, then in 2007 it was 135k then in 2008 it had 93k

to me thats a clocked odometer yes? if thats the case the vans done about 150k

had transit my first van bought it for 4.4k sold it year later for 4.1k did not do any work to the van ! sold it basic reason
- clutch to hard
-very very noisy engine
-no air con
-no cruse control
-no heated mirrors
-no parking sensor
-no metalic paint
-no alloy wheels
-rust as Danny mention all over the place
-wiper blades were use less even i had new one from ford

so got a transporter now ....oh i love it 🙂

oh yes i nearly forgot ..
dont know if you have notice but few times as leaving new customers to who i was on first visit for estimate they sort of walk you out side and like looking to see your van ?????????? have you noticed ???

That's why I keep my van clean and tidy inside. I'm sure the photograph on it adds to their confidence.

and easier to load up ,just dont throw boilers and pipe work from the streets 🙂

My last big van that I had (the unguided missile) was a transit that I bought of a pikey, brilliant van, the police never stopped it nobody ever tried to break into it ( in fact it was permanatly unlocked) it went anywhere better than any 4x4 so I feel that I will have to try and rip off a pikey for me tipper, so from now on every plumbing job will include a new tarmac drive and a Dag!!!!!!!!
