drain-rod storage

Hi all, How doe's everyone store their rods in their vans? I have a small van and no access to an external tap after use, thanks

I store mine in my lock-up as dont like carrying large/bulky or heavy equipment in my van but when i carry them in the van they are stored in a 1.2m length of 8" soil with a cap on one end and an access cap at the other, nice neat way to store then i think.:rockon2:

I always get a bucket of water from the house I am working at to clean them off,fit them in a canvas bag down side of van

Plastic rubbish sack until I can get them clean. Don't use them often though, if I can't clear a blockage with a plunger on one rod it's time to call out my mate with the drain clearing company.

bought mine from travis they come in a carry tube

keep mine in a zipped bag although i'm thinking about cutting down a piece of 110mm pipe that's been down the side of my shed for a couple of years.

I've got a peice of 1.9m gutter down pipe fixed to the inside of the van, which I can slide in 12 drain rods in, in sets of 2, I usually get a bucket of hot soappy water to wash of with before reinserting to the tube!!

how do you go about washing them?

is an upright 6'' pipe with caps on full of bleach n water a good idea?.

Leave them in the drain you have cleared, but with the end rod outside the manhole, F
Fill all the sinks and baths with hot soapy/bleachy water, then when you ready pull all the plugs, and flush all the toilets at once.
As the water comes past the manhole wiggle the rods around a bit.
Be sure the blockage is gone beofre you release the torrent though.....
