Drain unblocking chemical

View the thread, titled "Drain unblocking chemical" which is posted in UK Plumbers Forums on UK Plumbers Forums.

Dam Buster or One Shot are two that do work but so much depends on where the blockage is in the pipe. Both are dangerous chemicals on their own but when mixed with any other unblocker then stand well clear with full PPE on so would rather cut and join the pipe than use if I can.

Oneshot works well, I use a small funnel to pour down the waste fitting or it can tarnish the chrome. Read the instructions first.

All that Mr muscle etc is just garbage. There is a caustic soda drain unblocker that Travis perkins sells. I wouldn't count on it but I'd say it'd be better than supermarket conns. Always a good idea to remove and clean out the traps under your utilities I.E. baths ,basins and sinks .
Thaumaturgy Clear A Drain 1 Litre

Problem is kris I`ve seen stuff like that block a pipe when incorrectly used. Goes like ruddy concrete.

One shot works a treat, but don't let it get on the surface of a gel-coated shower tray, or anything chrome plated. Or yourself, your family or pets.

I just keep getting calls for drains but always say not for me ta lol kinds think I could pinch a easy 1er if I can clear it lol

I put one shot in a house afew months ago on a condensate pipe in a newish house that had somehow become blocked. It went straight into a wall so Oneshot was the easiest thing to try.
Never used it before but I got my gloves on, cut into the pipe and put another piece of pipe onto it. I followed the instructions and 30secs later the donor pipe was melted and just folded - bloody thing was almost on fire! Pipe went hot and started smoking.
I got lucky though. I thought I'd made a pigs ear of it but it sorted the problem.
Nasty stuff though. Last thing I'd use
