Drayton Digistat wireless - advice required

I have a four-circuit system, three for central heating, one for hot water, all on motorised valves, all thermostat controlled.

The top floor central heating is controlled by a Drayton Digistat wireless stat. With the central heating timer on, the circuit fails to operate, even though it shows green for heat, and the remote is calling for heat, with the flame symbol on. Batteries in the remote are OK, I've been through the set up cycle several times, and the lights do exactly what they're supposed to, but still no boiler lightup, and no motorised valve opening.

I believe the synchron motor is good, but will need to check, however there appears to be no power to it when the digistat light is green, calling for heat. I wonder if the wireless digistat box is duff, despite it showing the correct lights. Any help would be appreciated.

The Drayton Digistat receivers are rubbish and often
do not switch the controls.

I would advise that you get someone in that knows
how to test them.

If it is duff (probably is) it would be better to replace the
the whole unit (transmitter & receiver) with a different make
rather that just replacing the receiver like for like.

Easiest way to rule it out is to bypass the receiver unit.

Have had a good few receivers do exactly as you describe. sometimes interupting the power or turning the statr on and off a few times get's the rellay to switch. However long term I'd consider the option of hard wiring a stat in it's place. Wireless stats are expensive to repair/replace and, in my experience, fail far too often!!!

Absolutely. A very simple job for someone who knows what
they are doing. But not good advice for a D. I .Yer without
the relative knowledge on how to go about it.

Agreed, which is why I haven't gone in to detail on how to do it.

At the risk of proving some people wrong, the problem was with the capacitor in the receiver, which is apparently a common fault, failing to switch the internal relay. The solution? £3.94 off eBay instead of over £100 for a new unit, ten minutes soldering, with the instructions. An absolute piece of cake for anyone who's got a soldering iron, highly recommended, and saved a fortune.

Had one last week fail, green light come on but would "nt open valve. I have heard a few guys report the same problem.

The solution? £3.94 off eBay instead of over £100 for a new unit, ten minutes soldering, with the instructions. An absolute piece of cake for anyone who's got a soldering iron, highly recommended, and saved a fortune.

You need to listen to the receiver. If you can't hear the relay click, when the green light comes on, then the capacitor is more than likely the problem. A bit fiddly when you open the case, but a bit of care, and it'll be fine.

Had to change another drayton wireless roomstat yesterday on u/f heating . Green light on - no click, the 2 port stays shut ...The unit was 4 years old. New one fitted and clicks and works.

No, you should be contacting a g3 certified plumber to undertake the work you can not undertake repairs on the controls/safety devices of an unvented (megaflo) cylinder without g3 Certification.
