drill options

hey people.

very happy as i have just been accepted into college to do the 6129 tech certs starting september (yes i know its changing) was told that if c&g change it by then they would automatically put us on that one.

anyway, what better way to celebrate than to buy some basic tools.
i know its a long road ahead but wasnt even very optimistic in being accepted due to my age and you lot on here scaring me of the waiting lists lol so im very happy.

have 200 to spend from the missus for my bday and was thinking of a combi. possibly 18v drill with an impact driver. is this a good option or is 18 too much. also read a lot on here about preferring mains over batts?
would just like so opinions and what people mostly use in the everyday situations.

I use my Dewalt xrp 18v every day but it seems my newer yellow top batteries dont last as long as the old black top ones. Two years for the yellow and my black ones are 6-7 years old. They are expensive but i think the best.

Get a percussion makita from screwfix £74 and use a screwdriver instead of a combi to build your forearms up like popeye. Put the remaining money in bank for a rainy day.

was leaning more to makita but dont really mind what make it is as all the good makes seem to get good reviews. would wana stick with one make for compatibility reasons. im more confused on what voltages to get and what setup e.g drill drivers, impact driver hammer drill etc...
