well there is a great new thing out called ''google'',think it may catch on..just jot in the name of something and up it pops..
and secondly you can not guarantee any drilling through a pan as you did not manufacturer it ,so have no idea of stress points.not seen a wc fitting instructions anywhere that says drill pottery anywhere you like to bodge in cold feed .. so that's you being irresponsible and leaving customers in false sense of security...as said ,i can drill but would inform custard of risks involved..that is what you call being responsible..that's me

Wow, feel better do you?. Yeh silicon round the base of the pan to 1) make it "pee proof and 2) to take in to account any irregularities of the pan (which are always there, you can always google that). I always guarantee my work. Don't you?. Nuff said.
 
You can do anything but do not drill a hole in a toilet pan , raise the bar for yourself and get a tiler to finish off the job . You will be a better man for it .....
