Hello, I am new to this forum. I am in the process of replacing my economy seven direct combination hot water cylinder. I understand that it should just be a case of replacing one with another, however the Newark tank that i have bought as a replacement has six female connections to the hot water storage part of the tank. I know that two are for my heating elements, one is for my hot water out and one is for my drainage tap, however i cannot find any reason for the remaining two connections. To make matters worse they are 25mm connections and i cannot find this size in any DIY shop. Any explanation and help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I think there is a way of adding a coil to turn it into an indirect cylinder or to connect up to say a coal fire with back boiler for gravity heated hot water. Anyway just nip to the local plumbers merchant (take cylinder if necessary) and get a couple of blanks.

from the newark site, it looks like you may have an indirect economy 7 cyl as they have 6 openings: 2 for the coil, one for hw, one for cw feed and 2 immersion inlets, the direct cyl only has 5 openings. check the data plate on the cylinder as to its spec/type
