Hi all,

I've just moved into a flat and we have a combi boiler with 3 rads, hot water to kitchen and bath but also noticed there is a electric power shower over the bath.

I'm interested to know why this has been fitted? Is it something to do with the pressure? Would it just have been easier for who ever fitted it rather than taking a hot and cold feed from existing pipes?

Even if it was easier it will be a lot more expensive to use than a normal mixer shower.

Possibly fitted before boiler we find lots of them. Fit a mixer be like a whole rugby team opposed to the 55 year old coach!

That makes sense. On ripping the kitchen out I found a steel box with immersion heater attached. Never seen anything like it

its usually a good idea to have an electric shower when a combi is fitted, them if boiler breaks, you can still have a nice warm shower.

I would get rid of electric shower and do as ermi said put in a mixer off mains as youl get a lot stronger shower, obviously the boiler breaks it is handy to have a back up but if you have a good GSR engineer youl never be long without use of your boiler,

I always fit electric showers. I can't tell much difference between an electric and and a mixer.
I fitted an electric at my parents and they also have a bath/shower tap so have the option. Electric shower is always used though

I always recommend an electric shower and combi as it means you got something as theres no longer an immersion to fall back on and some parts dont come overnight

I sell boilers on reliability and performance. Wouldn't plant the seed of a breakdown or electric shower. Every one wants a mixer.
