Elevated tap problem

View the thread, titled "Elevated tap problem" which is posted in UK Plumbers Forums on UK Plumbers Forums.

I have a bathroom in my first-floor loft conversion. The header tank for the vented boiler is located as high as possible but the sink tap is just above the head of water so obviously the pump cannot self-start. A momentary activation of the bath tap overcomes the problem but it’s not very satisfactory.

A forum search shows that others have experienced this problem and the suggested solution is generally to raise the header tank. I cannot do this so have devised the plan shown in the attached diagram.

The pump is rated at 1.5 Bar, the Pressure vessel is rated 3 to 10 Bar. Presumably I can reduce the pressure a bit but will it work?

Switch to a negative / universal pump, doesn’t look installed correctly either

Also you want balanced pressures to any mixer taps
