elson coral e problem

Hi all,

My girlfriend has an Elson Coral E system for the hot water and she is experiencing a problem when it comes to actually getting hot water. When running hot water from any tap/shower in the apartment, it runs hot for approx 20 seconds then goes luke warm. The hot water pipe coming from the Elson E is boiling hot to touch however when you touch the pipe after the blending valve it is always luke warm (same as the water). To my none plumbing mind that suggests its the blending valve that needs replacing however has anyone else got experience with this system or this problem?

Do you live in a hard water area? Take the valve out and give it a soak in a limescale remover or just change it.

New mixer valve all day that Peter. Used to work for Elson and most common problem.

Thanks for the quick replies. Quick couple of questions. Firstly how much will a new valve cost (approx). Secondly, may be a stupid question but how do i cut off/isolate the water from the system before i unscrew/remove the blending valve.

You will be able to get one off the net EP100071 - might be best if you try Electric Water Heating in Harlow. You would need to switch main stop tap off then open lowest hot and cold taps to drain, dont forget to replace washers.

I don't know the costs, but swapped out something similar on an oil combi and 50 - 60 notes rings a bell.

Turn off your mains cold water and open taps until everything stops and then undo with a container underneath just in case.

My Elson Coral E is badly leaking. I am out of warranty and the ordinary plumbers are not familiar with the system. Can you help me finding a plumber who know the system and how to fix it.

Coral e 's just great cylinders , I look after a place with 56 of them. I do change the odd blending valve and sorry they are about £ 200 quid by the time the vat goes on, depending on which type is fitted ( gummers or heat guard ) there is a repair kit but that's about £50 quid.

Hi - I also have a Elson Coral E and on Sunday 23 Sept it started leaking from the centre hot water heating element
This is the 2nd time in 15months that this has happened so I knew who to contact. The hot water element was replaced this morning

If you are in the London area I could pass on details if you want and it is allowed. I only registered with this site to reply to you. I found site as I was looking for replacement plastic cover for element unit as it badly cracked

Brunswick, I am miles away from you (Yorkshire) but there is a find a plumber section on here which will help you, however if your immersion heater goes again insist on a genuine elson immersion heater it may help. The place I look after is approx. 12 years old and I have hardly changed any, but up in Yorkshire we do have decent water LOL.

Shady, to be honest I didn't know they had started doing the coral E in solar, I take it yours is a round stainless cylinder rather than the old square box type.

Hi Brunswick, I'm having the same problem with my Elson Coral E boiler as Shadi2014, I know this is an old post but I came across it when searching the internet to find someone that knows this system to repair, which proves very difficult. If you get his post can you please pass me the details and how much it cost. I'm in north London.
