Currently installing air to water and underfloor.theres this expansion like vessel with two 3/4 iron male threads on top and bottom of it with no bladder on between.its goes before the primary flow hits the cylinder and underfloor manifold.anyone know of its function??we don't do alot of air to water installs.be gratefully for a reply

The idea of a flow through expansion vessel is to prevent stagnation water and potential build up of legionella bacteria. The water is constantly moving through one of these vessels, rather than staying put and becoming a risk. As Shaun says usually on hot water circuits but will work just the same in a heating circuit.
Remember the vessel creates the point of no pressure change and should be sited in the correct place.

So even when there's no pump circulating
 
The point the vessel tees into the system is the point of no pressure change when the circulating pump is energised. Ideally you want the vessel on the return back to boiler with the pump shortly afterwards.
