But then they still allow gradual water ingress which is going to be the issue with a damp outhouse?

Gradual ingress? Extract fans in bathrooms seem to manage without problems, most outside electrics have no problems, anyway the electrics facia enclosure will last a lot longer then the exposed components if it's that bad an environment. If you make the boiler air tight then It won't even light 🙂

Also if it floods it don't matter, the powers off anyway.

Billy, have a read up on IP ratings before further comment. Nobody likes a know it all, especially when they are wrong. Oh and that isn't the definition of ambitious.

Imagine the disappointment if your 7metric tonne LPG tank was empty after house was flooded and your boiler was able to work when house was submerged?

But suppose if the nest equipment was also working wow!

Perhaps on reflection my post was worded a bit harshly, so I'm sorry for that. We've all got our own problems in real life eh?

That said, I can't help but notice your post style has changed recently and they can come across as a bit over confident in areas, particularly as some of the advice you are giving out is stuff you've only just learnt yourself through your forum posts.

We all learn and many like to teach but when it's all in public you've nothing to hide. The last thing you want to seem like is an interest warrior. Your obviously enthusiastic about the job and I don't think I've met ( kind of in a virtual way) anyone so eager to progress in their chosen career path before. Just remember that there are a lot of people on here who have been giving you advice, who may feel a touch bitter when they now feel you are giving it back.

my 2p, don't take it to heart as it is not intended to be like that, just an observation.
