faulty tap?

I recently fitted new basin taps , the hot tap opens then stops or gradually slows right down, at a certain point water stops and starts rapidly, the only way to stop all this is to turn the tap full on I bought them a few months ago and fitted them a couple of months ago , I thought it would settle down but it seems to be
worse.
I got them at B&Q but lost the receipt . Can they be fixed?

Sounds like tap washer is not fixed correctly to jumper. Remove head gear and check.

Also, the slowing down happens with all rubber washer based hot taps, replace the cheap washer in there with a (1/2'' - 3/8'') Pegler one and that will help. Pegler changed the brand name of their washers to 'Holdtite' for some reason but your local independant merchant will know the one you need.
I wouldn't go to b+q or any of the other big sheds for this as they don't know their harris from their elbows and will probably try to palm you off with whatever they make most profit on.

removed the tap gland and the washer proved too difficult to remove, it was held with a mushroom headed pin and there seemed to be a slight up and down movement between the washer assembly and the main tap gland
I replaced the complete tap gland assembly (B&Q £5.27 pack x2) it had a thicker washer and it was held with a nut . The tap works great and feels tighter and firmer. lessoned learned keep a hold of your receipt.
