Ferroli F24 CH led flashing

Hello,
my current system is a Ferroli F24 Combi boiler,
I had to turn the water off at the stop tap, turned the water back on and everything was fine. Two days later noticed the hot water was running cold but the CH was still on fine. Had a plumber come and look at it and he said the flow switch was the problem, all he did was look didn't touch any of the pipes, etc. Next morning i noticed the CH wasn't working, so tried resetting the boiler, no joy. I have since had the flow switch replaced and now have hot water, the boiler tries to boot up for the CH but only for about 15 seconds and then it cuts out and the radiator light starts flashing green. Noticed that even with the CH off that the pressure keeps rising from 1.5 bar to just over 3 bar, if i try putting the CH on it gets to 4 bar but then blows the pressure off itself, then goes back down to 3 bar, the plumber said he wasn't sure what else he could do at the time but said it could be the pressure switch, so he'd get a price for that but heard nothing since. Any ideas? Has anybody has similar problem in the past? Just I don't want to/can't really afford to be replacing part after part on the off chance it has a fault when it could be down to something else, thank you in advance.

I'm afraid the only advice we can give you on a public thread is to get in another Gas safe engineer. Personally I would be replacing the boiler for a better more reliable one. the Ferroli are notorious for being a bad unreliable boiler.

Darren is quite correct. The cause of your problem is really
quite serious and beyond a plumber. You will need a combi specialist...try combi cure eg. they must be gsr. At least the hot water is still working and its warming up so heating is not so vital. A new boiler will with the full installation package cost over £1200 but against a repair bill which might pass £300 only you can make that choice. centralheatking

I can give you advice, no effence but throw that boiler in the skip! Terrible and not worth throwing parts at it to be honest.

I had a number of those boilers fitted in rental properties some years back. At the time I was short of cash and they were cheap and had a 7 year warranty.

All of them lasted the 7 years perfectly and then soon after kind of self destructed.

As soon as something small was fixed something else small went wrong with them and the more parts and labour that was thrown at them the more went wrong..... until it was time to cut losses and replace them.

None of them made it to their 9th anniversary.

I'd say time to cut your losses mate.......

Thank you all for your responses. A new boiler isn't an option just to current financial situation (baby's are pretty expensive aren't they!) Had a boiler guy (12 years experience he said he has) look at it and he said it could be the clock that is stopping it firing up properly for the CH, installed a manual clock as mine is currently a digital clock and that has changed nothing, so he said it could be the water pump so he's order one of the those, that was before this weekend so hopefully here back from him today/tomorrow.

The central heating dial has been turned off since it isn't work and i bled a radiator to lower the pressure to 1.5 bar, yet a few hours later the pressure has made its way back up to 3+ bar, how is that possible when the boiler is not even trying to fire up anymore?

Sounds like you have numerous problems there and as said before a really poor boiler. Your engineer also sounds like he’s struggling and is just throwing parts at it so I’d be inclined to try someone else or see if the manufacturer offers any sort of fixed price repair

If it's creeping back upto 3 bar with nothing in use then your engineer should know what the problem part is for that fault. Honestly wouldn't throw any money at that boiler
