hi - help needed please

i have a ferroli modena 80e up until a few days ago was working fine when the pressure dropped so i upped the pressure back to 1.5 bar and it worked fine up until yesterday when now it will now not fire up at all so no heating or hot water. the electric and gas are okay, the lights to the central heating and electric power supply are fixed, no boiler shutdown light on, tried running hot tap to call for water while resetting but does not seem to want to spark ignition

any help or advice would be appreciated

it could be numerous reasons ,if you are getting nothing happening it could be an internal fault

if you are getting no noise out of it that could well be an internal fault presuming you have enough pressure 1.5 bar max when cold in it

i have a similar problem, had someone out today and the fan is not firing up, they think it could be the board but they arent sure because they havent worked with a lot of ferrolis

whats working on forrollis got to do with the fan as long as theyve check the fan for the correct voltage amps whatever (not perfect on elecy)omhs then go from there biit expensive to change the board with doing that first

i would check the thermistors first myself if memory serves me right they recommend changing in pairs, it could also be a fuse on the pcb that has blown

give the bottom left corner of the boiler 10 hard taps to loosten the relay on thepcb, works on most ferrolli pcbs that arent working lol, true tho

point taken, now Im wearing glasses I see its an older ferrolli and not the new proper rubbish.

Come to think of it, my 3rd call tommorrow is one of these if the parts come thro, 2 temp sensors to try first, then I'll be ordering the pcb/pcbs (got to look in the front first to see which version we have there) Didnt look on friday, it was too cold to hang around long, lol

heres what i would start with, you say you had a pressure loss issue,it worked then died either you have a gunked up low water pressure switch or a dead heating thermister

you are right about the later he ferrolis though lol

have tried the 10 taps no response, checked fuse on PCB which is fine - so now gonna strip out the fan for a quick clean then test voltage when refitted - but have ordered a set of thermisters & new air pressure switch - will post how i get on with that b4 i look to replace the fan or PCB

my ferrolli had numerous faults so persuaded custard they needed a proper boiler, so they chose an ideal!!!!, still work is money and at least its up and working today., cant say how long it will stay working, prehaps ideals are getting better, but the price was what the customer used to choose the boiler.

for the sake of a few extra quid????? people

modena 80e - changed thermisters, changed air pressure switch, new fan, new venturi & probe - the boiler fired up and ran long enough to run a bath full of hot water, then shut down again and not firing up reverting back to original problem - pressure is fine between 1-1.5 bar central run until it shut down also

things to check

1,link out the 88 degree stat could be causing problem
2,check the plastic plug connection at pump they are common for being loose this would affect the central heating if temp in boiler reached will not fire especially if no power at pump
3,check all wiring connections for continuity especially on plastic connectors to pcb

changed the PCB out for a new one sourced from a seller on Ebay for £71.50 inc delivery - fired up straight away heating and hot water working perfect now

thank you for all comments and help recieved
