Hi, I have a Worcester Green star Junior, a sealed system, and would like to fit an isolating valve to the incoming water supply pipe to this boiler so I can quickly shut off the supplies to bathroom in our bungalow but if need be leave the heating running. There's a convenient location a couple of feet from the boiler. With our pipe run this will leave cold water to the kitchen tap (which will be controlled by the main stopcock) but allow isolation of the hot water and bathroom cold supplies.

My question is if I break into this pipe will I need to bleed any part of the boiler or central heating afterwards and/or I was looking at one of these Aladdin Easy Fit Isolators and would welcome any advice or thoughts on this project.

Many thanks

lets assume the tap on the boiler cold feed is stuck open.

no you don't need to drain the boiler, but why pay for the aladin?
just turn of the cold water of at the incoming stop tap. open taps in sink/ bath to empty pipe.
cut pipe and fit tap.
or is there something else??
simple job, if it needs doing?

and welcome to the forum.

Thanks to all for your thoughts and time. I'd like to do the job as it gives me the flexibility to isolate the bathroom quickly, at the moment only way is the mains stopcock. I note the references to the isv in boiler. The brass screw which sits behind the white plastic fill knob, and has a wing washer type assembly around it I assume is the one, as it's directly on to the 'in' pipe work, but is very tight. I haven't gone to the extreme of using to much force as I don't want to damage it. Are they prone to seizing? WD40?
Thanks again
