allright guys one of my customers called me last night saying her boiler is leaking, popped out and its a glowworm flexicom 30 cx combi

water was pouring out the front of the case so tool the cover off took the pcb unit front down water everywhere in the case dried up all the water and i could not see anything dripping looked like it was leaking from under the black plastic manifold. could of been a o ring which is away but its going to be a full strip down to try find it.

Anyone had a problem like this either having to replace the full plastic manifold or is it going to be a o ring one by one

thanks guys

steven

hydroblocks pin holing used to be an issue if I remember right, I have managed to get gloworm out to replace them as its a manufacturing fault as the hydro blocks arent fit for purpouse and dont let them take a payment upfront of the custard as they like to try and do. then if all goes well you havea custard for life, in most cases, one I helped like this winged that I charged to come out and get her a free repair out of warranty and reckoned I should have been free as welll!!!!!!!!!!!.

Yes. Lots of times

either the rubber flow flexi on he left is weeping, up pressure or look for stains, also pressure will be lost. If not then the 'support' which is as lame said the entire hydroblock is leaking around the seam, never had one dropping pressure always seems to be on the dhw side.

bit of a pig of a job and the 'support' doesn't come with all the o rings either which is annoying.

crap boiler

lame the boiler is 6 years old u think i should call glow worm

i have and if you quote the product is not fit for purpouse enough times they give in. just because a manufacturer gives a voluntary warranty doesnt mean that when their idea of warranty ends you have to accept it. If they have a known fault ie leaking hydro blocks due to poor manufacturing processes its their problem.

nostrum i saw the black flex pipe on the left looked ok, i put the pressure up and it looked fine stuck the heating and hot water on the water was cold not hot on the boiler case

Yeah it'll be the support, bit of a joke that they decided to bolt nearly every component onto such an unreliable part! New one doesn't look to have been modified either unless they changed the manufacturing process. About £60 +vat for the support and 2 - 4 hrs work. Take some spare o rings as well if you do it.

yeh if glowworm dont fix it, its going to be down to me much do they cost and what they like to fit a bugger ??

took glow worm techie 80 minutes when i watched him do it as custard was away and i had to let him in. silicone and new o rings essential

Bearing in mind he probably does at least one a week and has a van full of glow worm gear my estimate wasn't to bad. The extra hours were allowing for airing cupboard or awkward spot which doesn't help getting the valve tails out the chassis.

glow worm have said that this boiler is not covered it was there other model not the flexcom they said it will cost 260 for the engineer to go out and check the boiler if it was a malfunction fault they will refund the customer

I've had one of those hydroblocks leak.
It was a Barlam as the screws had corroded and the captive nuts that are moulded into the block didn't hold.

those supports are known for leaking and the tube and flow link (black rubber thing) also check the sump hasn't got a pin hole in... front flue hood and top flue assembly also pinhole very often!! i work on these alot and see it all the time!

I always argue this as if the hydoblock has failed as they do its their problem and the custard shouldnt have to cough, I have won on 4 occassions, they hate me at their call centre 🙂

think I had flexicom as one of them, basically anything plastic and glow worm leaks, they always deny it but just push, on the custards phone, the ultimate push is tro let gw know you are advising cutard to go via small claims court for costs involved as their boiler isnt fit for purpouse, that can be a clincher and dont deal with telephone troll, get the manager.

seen them leak from diverter motor and hydro. called them to one that was leaking quite bad - went back to do landlord cert and it still has a very slight drip

Think the leak is from the underside of div. easy swap about 30mins. From memory an alternative brand one is cheaper, is it a valiant one?? There is a seal half way up casing, run some big roll along it and u feel a dent , probs wet. Also think condensate traps/ assembly leaks on these??
