Does anyone know what the acceptable co ppm is on a flue annalyser test?

I thought it was 100ppm?

If all other reading are okay, i.e ratio etc would you leave?

Thanks

Thanks, that says should be below 100ppm which is what I thought, obv MI's are what you would go off but seems 100ppm is a general rule although I have seen quite a few boilers over that
Most are over 100 ppm, LPG Equivalents are always slightly above NG versions also

they used to teach that anything above 200ppm needed investigation from memory when i was in college 17 years agew.

with the changes in commissioning/benchmark requirements due in april 2013 which will become mandatory from april 2014 the guidelines set out in the current Gas Engineer magazine the action level is 350ppm and a ratio of 0.004.

how they have come to these levels im unsure, but this figure may become the new action level? or each manufacture may have specific levels for each model?

if you aint read your magazine yet then take a look and see what you think, post opinions.

I was told a when doing my combustion course that a general rule is 200 ppm and .0008 , however reading the new gsr mag seems to have changed

we must not forget that the artical only refers to new installs when first commissioning the appliance, so current action levels used when servicing as set out in the BS should stay as is. Tho MI may require different reading than those in the BS.

im asuming you got the decimal point in the wrong place and ment 0.008? 😉

Vaillants usually say about 250 which i think is a good max level although you could have alot higher and still be well within ratio limits. Always check mi and if you check viessmans they say up to 500 which seems mad. We fit vokeras and usually when comissioning you will get between 120-170 from new.

there is a sticky post somewhere about fga results.
i mistakenly said on that post that over 200ppm co was an at risk situation.
a figure i remembered from somewhere and had up to then turned off all boilers above that. it was incorrect
there are no maximum co readings.
you could be spewing out 1000ppm and apparently its not a problem.
absurd rule, but thats the way it is.
each individual boiler will have the recommended flue gas analysis readings.
you need to compare that or ring and ask the manufacturer what they allow as permitted CO in the flue.
on the sticky thread you will find some of the MI's stats, but always best to ring and make sure.

rang ideal yesterday about an isar and they said there is no readings for co ppm or co2 %, only for ratio on an isar..

Don't get to hung up on your CO readings. Its the ratio of CO to CO2 which counts. Everyone quite right about this 200ppm reading as most band A boilers look for between 9 and 10% CO2 which at 200ppm CO brings it into about 0.002 ratio which is acceptable. On commercial boilers the CO reading could be much higher but still within parameter as long as the ratio is better than 0.004.

How to work out ratio:

Convert CO ppm to % terms by dividing by 10,000. Then divide CO% figure into CO2% gives you ratio. Most FGA,s do it for you.

I just had an ecotec with co 112ppm had a look at the mi and they say anything below co 250ppm seam's high to me though.

FYI WB has just increased the max from 200ppm to 250ppm, on the CDI AND SI Compact range, probably due to gas valve being unadjustable! MI's ain't been updated yet, so watch for the loose addendum in the packaging
