Hi guys long time no see, just wanted to get some thoughts on a flue position.
went to a land lords ( new client ) the end of last week, to find a flue termination i was more than unhappy with. Ideal elan 2 with a flue approx 200mm away ( as the crow flys )which requires 300mm but also is positioned in a way that it is only in my view going to allow products to enter the property. The picture isnt great as i was a bit below the flue but the top of the opening is only approx 100mm below the flue, and with it being an internal corner it was only heading one way in my view. The land lady wasnt impressed when i told her in my view it was at least ar possibly/probably id if i detect products entering the property. She asks why the previous engineer passed it as sub standard ( ntcs i guess he was meaning ). In the end no need to worry as positive pressure appliance which was leaking out of the seals every where so id and cap.
Any thoughts would be great, me being over the top or not.

Took me ages to get that picture up and its on the pi**.
Last bloke got the vent filled but was happy with the window? Just me or if the vents to close the windows to close, checked with ideal 300mm req all round. Didnt get to do a room co test as the faulty case sealed the deal, but dont really like the room co test as one day its ok the next day the winds up and products entering

Dont do many landlords which is good as they are normally a nightmare and always trying to put you under pressure to pass

Case seal being a different mater. On this flue position I would be NCS'ing. Unless you know for fact POC's are entering property at dangerous level then it would be ID.
Come across these day in day out. Advise customer keep window closed and fit CO alarm.

Maybe i think about these ones to much . I tend to think that if the opening is on the same wall as the flue then the products are being blown away from opening so prob ntcs. But if like in this cas the products are being blown towards an opening ar. Didnt mention the flue was minium distance off of the wall of 25mm

If flue had been fitted to MI's with the 300mm clearance to window would you think could be AR even though in this position it may be possible for POC's to enter window with a strong side wind?
It is easy to get bogged down and over-think!

Like your train of thought, can some times be accused of being to safe but was always taught you cant be to safe.
flue postions can be a bug bear of mine.

It is either ntcs or id depending if fumes are entering property. I myself would be looking for other things to fail it on if I can't find anything then I would put on my sheet
"Flue too close to window carried out room co test with window open no fumes entering property ntcs recommend removing and bricking up window"
You have then spotted the problem acted on it and advised the customer accordingly.

The categories might as well not exist, as far as I am concerned if its not right its wrong and wrong should mean off. The categories are the engineer on sites call which gas safe regularly hide behind when queried. Well if I am the one on site I am not being held responsible for not to mi installs in any form. The policy of recording defects but classing them as not a problem (which is essentially what ncs and to some extent ar is) is fundamentally wrong. Where will the incentive to correct any if it come from as long as the system just lets it slide. I know others on the forum for whom I have a great deal of respect will have very different oppinions but this is mine.
