Flue termination??

Hi all. Am I right in saying a flue can be installed 300mm directly to the side of an openable window? Reason I ask, we looked at a job today where the boiler placement was very awkward. The property is an upstairs flat that has old blow heaters. The kitchen is the best position but as the neighbours building overlaps the front of the kitchen the flue would be right next there bathroom window(500mm).
I was unsure what was best. I looked at some other similar properties and it looks like some have had boilers in the loft but there is no fixing point other than the 2 adjoining flats.

Can't you go through the roof with a vertical ?

Is that a flue down the bottom going through a lintel ?

It is a flue downstairs yes.
I work for a gas safe company but I'm doing my ACS course now. The reason I come on here is due to the boss not showing or knowing. When I said I use a forum he laughed. If we went in the loft there's nowhere to secure the boiler to apart from the adjoining walls and the roofs pitch is very shallow.

consider clearance, boundary/ plume issue.

What do your acs training books say?

is that an artex ceiling? if so you will need a asbestos report on it aswell as the roof tiles.

I can't look at my viper book cos it's at the course centre as I'm there all this week.
I have been covering this recently and I'm told that manufacturers instructions is final.
The customer wants an Ideal logic 24 combi, which normally we only install Worcester.

Your boss sounds like a dic (Laughing at your trying to learn which He should be encouraging in my opinion anyway)

If it was me doing that job would find a way to go through the roof or if possible fit boiler the other side of the window if that is clear ?

He is.
Other side of kitchen window is the living room window.
Going up is best option if all the clearances are ok.

What about fitting a plume kit to take it above the roof ?

Cant you fit the boiler on the 1st floor and flue it up and out the roof.??

Boiler has to go on the first floor yes. When I go to my course today I'll have a look at the flue termination points.
I don't know whether the ideal logic 24 has the option of a plume kit, we only normally install worcester.
I think this is our first job in a flat to be honest.

Yes it has.
But cant be used to circumvent poor install clearances.

I think the clearances would be fine but it may cause a nuisance.
