Just finished a refurb and the customer supplied a kitchen sink tap, a utility sink tap and a basin tap for the cloaks, I have never seen or worked with such rubbish in my life. I asked where she got them and she said E-bay, Where are these ebayers buying this crap from?

The simplest of tasks took me over an hour, the pop up waste was an absolute joke. Looked like it was engineered in a field!

The flexi's were a 3/8 female fitting,

I felt like crying! 1 thing i have learnt today! If the customer wishes to supply the materials i will double my price!

Like the way custards order this rubbish ,refuse to pay extra for the extra time it take to do and then when it breaks ,blame the plumber as we saw in a post the other day

I have gone to jobs were custards say I am not the cheapest or most expensive but they want a good job done and I was recommended, then you see what they want you to fit and roll your eyes, why can not they use the same strategy with materials, instead of going for all this cheap rubbish, trouble is ,there is so much of it about now

imho

I had a job last year custard got all the gear (Did not want me to make any profit on mat),did the job on hourly rate thank god all rubish stuff airsource heat pump cheap rubbish ,and then wanted me to come back free to fix it when it packed up,and even thought that i should guarantee every thing even though they bought it uuuuuuuuuuuuu

If I go to price a job up and get one of the "shrewd businessman" types who says I should supply at my trade price, I tell them to fire the car up and we'll take his wheels, go to 2 or 3 merchants to get all the gear for the job, and it's still chargeable. They think the gear magically appears in the van, we don't spend hours wazzing up and down picking tackle up, phoning round for the best price......
I HATE CUSTOMERS!!
:6:

i dont like CUSTARDS much either and i know where they can stick there tat taps and ebay wonders and if they want trade prices fine do the job them selves

Getting the likes of us to fit crappy euro trash taps.............what a CHEEK.

I too hate fitting the cheap crap....you almost want to break it as you fit it, just so you can go to the client and say....'look at this cheap foreign rubbish, its just falling to bits'.

The bad thing is the better manufacturers like Bristan are cutting the odd corner to try and compete with this market which is sad. Oh and what can I say about C P Hart. Their sanitary and brassware is very expensive and not in my opinion well made. Its mainly imported (last crate said India!!). I had to diamond drill the last bidet I fitted as the monoblock taps they supplied didn't fit, and it was 6 weeks to get a replacement.

Personally think Bristan stuff is good.

I recently had to match coloured tiles to 2¾ sides of a shower. I suggested it would be easier, quicker and cheaper to rip all of them off but they didn't want that even though they were looking to save money.

Had to buy either 4 or 5 boxes to complete job (£30 a box).

I said 4 boxes
They said 5 boxes

I was 1 tile short and this didn't have to go on the wall and I suggested if I fit this they could get the money back for their 5th box.

I was wrong.

They wanted to open the last box for the one tile!!!

Job finished well and they gave me a £20 tip as well. Just couldn't understand them!!!

If custard supply the taps etc I always ask to inspect first and price accordingly. I am sick of making no profit after fitting crap and running around to different merchants to get fittings for some of this rubbish.

I also tell them up front that the gear is poor quality so they aren't surprised when it fails.
