Freezing machines - whats the best for hire fleet

Hi All

We are looking at adding some pipe freezing machines to our hire offer.

I'm trying to compare the Freezemaster 420D with the Rothenberger RoFrost Turbo and the Arctic ARCEL.

Does anyone have any experience of using these machines, and is there anything to choose between them? In particular ease of use, lack of small fiddly parts and robustness are all important on a hire machine.

We're also trying to decide whether to go for the 110V or the 230V versions. I know that most hire companies go for the 110v stuff, but most of our customers are doing domestic work most of the time, and I have a feeling that 230V may be a better option.

Any thoughts and input appreciated.

Ray

We use the Rofrost Turbos and they are solid robust workhorses. Easy to use and don't require any maintenance.

I think anyone who needs a 110 version is likely to have one of their own so I'd go for the 240v. They are heavy enough without the additional 110 transformer to lug around.

freezemasters , mines 2nd hand and going strong despite the age and its a red version, all new are blue🙂 Rothenburgers from experience of the smaller ones locally are pants, several lads bought a rothenburger one on offer and all of them said they were useless and want to use mine! Something to do with a built in timer for pipe size not being reliable. All in all I wouldnt swap myv freeze master for any other make, hasnt even needed recharging to date. Go for 240v 110 are a pain to lug around and you only need a safety plug to cover you.

Used the rothenberger turbo freeze which is a good machine but the suitcase one thats plastic is crap.......dont even get me started on that piece of.......

If you're hiring it out Ray I would suggest buying a PAT machine and send one of your boys on a PAT course to test all the electrical gear before it leaves your sites.

It's subjective buddy, I have the Rothy Eco, apart from needing a water top up its never let me down
