Our kitchen is long overdue an upgrade and the boiler which is a 12 year old Ideal Mexico 470ff is slap bang in the way of everything. We do not want it in the same position as the fan has to be replaced around every four years or so and this is a real pita as it is necessary to remove the worktop to gain access to fan so we would like the boiler relocated.

The proposed relocation would be within a larder unit but the exit flue would then be just a few inches (6-8) above the gas meter box.

Is that within the gas safety rules or are we going to have to shell out for a new wall mounted boiler and have it installed higher up within the same larder unit.

Your thoughts would be most welcome.

pointless moving it, spent some more and replace it iaw MFIs and gas regs.

That boilers can't be enclosed into a tight unit as it requires loads of ventilation , the ideal mexicos are gas guzzlers so the money you would spend moving it ( purchasing new flues etc as old ones are probably seen better days ) put the it toward a wall hung condenser which can go into a concealed space as require no ventilation ,, cut your gas bills down and get more good out of the gas your burning ,

Thanks for the info gents, looks as if it's time to spend some more hard earned shillings .
