gas cooker fail?

hi all, i have recently been told that my gas cooker cannot pass the gas safe cert because of the lack of a gas cut off feature.
i am about to move out of my home and begin renting it out, so obv have to obtain a gsc, as far as i know everything else is ok but because the gas doesn't automatically cut off when the flame is blown out he cant pass it! it is an existing installation not a new one, and it doesn't have the cut off feature so it isn't faulty. it works fine and passed on everything else.
does this sound right? would appreciate any advice you can offer, i'd like to know a bit more before i start shouting, spending, and ringing someone else.

not true if it is in situ now, but if you replace it it will have to have burner ffds fitted. Otrherwise BNQ would have made a fortune when this reg was introduced!

If there is no cut off device fitted (fsd) then that is OK as long as the other check's are OK chain etc. The rules are different for flats and multiple occupancy though.

Get a decent gas engineer who know what they are doing is point one, then once you have someone who knows their job that can discuss what is happening, there is NO way a gas cooker can fail a gas safety check for not having a safety cut off, if the property is multi occupancy it is NCS (Not to Current Standards) and as long as you are advised about it you can decide whether it needs rectified or not, if the property is a house then it doesn't need on at all

Lame he doesn't his property is multi occupancy so why must he fit FSD if it's renewed ?

sounds like your engineer either dont understand the regs and the difference between existing and new installs, or he/she wants to make some extra dough and fit you a new appliance.
