Gas cooker ventilation requirements.

Hello Forum,

My kitchen has a gas cooker, about 10rs ago we had a conservatory installed the full width of the back kitchen such that any openable windows open into the conservatory.

Now that I need to replace the cooker I am told that I need ventilation direct to the outside. Could this be achieved by putting a ventilation air brick in my conservatory wall of a particular size ? Kitchen is 6sqm and conservatory is 21sqm.

Or I could remove one of the window openers in the conservatory completely and fit a ventilation grill

Any opinions much appreciated.

Because it's gas and safety related it's best to get an engineer in to inspect your property and determine best route for ventilation as must be adhered to. Bs5440 n tb 005

we will take it to be at least 2m high 😉 12cube

cant fit a cooker to internall room with no opening window or door to outside!!
needs measuring all factors by r.g.e to be sure without seeing it.

buy electric.

Thank you all for your comments I will get a couple of opinions as to what is possible as it really has to be seen.

The conservatory window I would remove would have grills on both sides to prevent rain water leaking in.

I am prepared to switch over to electric.....if that is my only option.

A gas cooker can be fitted into a kitchen which has had a conservatory fitted to the outer wall,extra ventilation requirement's are required however to replace the openable window/door ect to the once outside
The actual type of ventilation required ,requires confirming with the manufacturer of the cooker
Before you purchase a cooker for an installation like this,you should consult the manufacturer to make sure the model you have chosen is suitable and also consult a gas safe engineer to carry out a site inspection to make sure the ventilation requirements can be met,to the manufacturers and your approval

May sound a bit of a hassle,it isn't,just a bit of forward planing

The ventilation requirement is equal to the measurement of both floor spaces combined (kitchen&conservatory). May have to fit an extraction fan direct to outside.

I don't think so. Don't quote me though. I'm just doing all my ACS papers and I actually had a TB hand out about internal kitchens.

To avoid grey areas and confusion so it can be used in Court.
And when they do cause grey areas and confusion they write an amendment an amendment an amendment.

Everytime time I sit the acs I want to stand there and tell them this is all a load of pointless mindless balls. None of it makes any sodding sense, why am I working out the ventilation for a 60 year old floor standing boiler in a room within a room within a room?! I throw new boilers on the wall for a living!
i never do tho. I'm the nodding dog at the front of the class who brings an apple for the teacher and thanks him for taking my hard earned money!

gas cooker-flueless appliance,cant be vented through another room or internal space only direct to outside air,seems simple enough to me

i normally find the faults they did not know was there,few years back when i done water heaters they had me strip down some french tat,i could not be arsed to put it back together again i was told being French was not a reason to ID it
