I have two problems on which I would appreciate advice.

I have drained my CH system down (2ce) and fitted new locksheilds as well as flushing out those rads that I could handle (couldn't handle two largest).

I did it in two stages, first the ground floor, replaced the valves then refilled and checked for leaks. I also checked for rad heating and the boiler worked perfectly, heating all the rads. The second drain down was to deal with the first floor valves which I replaced and then refilled the system.

My boiler lit up but only operated for about 3/4mins then shut down completely, no rads had heat flowing. I let it cool down then started it again and the same thing happened, shut down after 3 mins. I altered the boiler thermo a bit but the same thing happened

I have one bed rad (has been flushed) that I can't bleed, no air or water comes out. I have fitted a TVR on this one and I checked (by releasing the connections) that water was in it ok.

Very puzzling, would appreciate any advice.

Air trapped in the system, therefore no flow and boiler shuts down.

I understand. Any suggestion as to how best to remove it.

I have already drained it down again with the problem remaining.

Check operation of any ARV's on the system. Identify any high points which have not got bleed valves.

What sort of system do you have ? combi ? or standard system with hot water cylinder / Tanks in loft, if cylinder air us gets stuck in coil. or pump is stuck.

Thanks all for coming back with help

I have a standard system - header tank in roof.

I have drained and refilled about 4 times and bled and re-bled the rads. Tried and retried the boiler. When it has cooled it will ignite and start to pump, in fact I did notice that during one of these spells the small rad in 1st floor toilet did warm up before the system shut off. I have opened the drain cocks (I have 4) while still allowing filling and also bled every rad hoping to shift whatever it was with movement.

Because of the short spell of activity and (apart from the small rad) no other heat up, I feel the air lock has to be close to the boiler. What is the best way of shifting it.

your pumps got cack in it or dry.
open the port valve to manual or check rotation of pump.

sorry john, over ruled.🙂

Is pump red hot? Open vent above pump and undo screw vent on pump?
