hi all after some advice.
went job today and transco had shut off gas to property. carried out checks and leak is inside boiler.
boiler is a Greenstar 24i junior. Carried out all checks and no gas leak found. I have heard from frinds in trade that a gas valve (solenoid can stick open).
Meter drops with boiler runing or if everything switch off.
any advice?

many thanks

can you explain " meter drops with boiler running" not sure what test you are doing here, gas on at meter and boiler running is taking working pressure, but you cant check for a gas leak with an appliance or meter on
"or everything off" suggests the FSD in the gas valve is faulty so the appliance is ID and needs a new gas valve,

sorry mate i read it back to my self and it does not make sense!

With boiler off - Greenstar 24i junior - Carried out letby & tightness test all ok with boiler isolated. No drop at all. But soon as open isolation valve for boiler pressure drops straight away. Have check all unions with LDF and gas sniffer. Gas sniffer goes nuts when placed in and around gas valve. Looking at new gas valve? never had this before as was starting to dout myself. Friend says a solenold can stick open causing gas to escape.

yeah LDF everything - to be honest there were i think only a few unions to check and p/test point on valve.

had same fault on ariston, some smart axxse had left the test point open, maybe one to consider.HTH

first thing checked as customer said she was on a bg plan but that end months back. god only knows how long she has had gas leak.

ive heard that the old gas valves in the 24i juniors have a tendency to pass, i think the recent boilers have cip gas valves that are better
