Geberit infrared wc sensorflush - has anyone cut and re-jointed the sensor cable?

I have an install and have already fitted the geberit UP 320 Cistern and frame and I am about to fit the sensor - it is the round chrome with the dark glass - this is the one:

My question is - can the sensor cable be cut and re-jointed - we have it fitted already but need to put new tiles on and rather than cut a long slot in the tile - would we be able to cut and re-joint the cables?

The cable is to be sealed within a IP rated water proof duct separated from the cistern enclosure and would not at any time be exposed to moisture - can I joint the wires in a cable connector and tape it up in the IP rated duct?

i fitted these wave flow sensors a while back and would be an expensive error if you cant rejoin them

Yes, good point. I know it would void any warranty as well.


I suppose I should drop an email to Geberit and ask...

Update: got a response from GEBERIT. They said that it could be done but would void waranty.

I will likely have to do this on one job that is about to be tiled.....

...... anyone know what I should look out for?
