Hello all,
I think Im about to answer my own question but wanted to ask before I go ahead and do the extra needed. Now, I have fitted bathrooms in the past but don't do so full refurbs now. This one is for the inlaws so I can't say no lol. As part of the swopping out of the bath for walk in shower area I need to fit grab rails. The walls are paramount walls. I don't think that a good and safe fixing can be had into these that are sufficient to fit a grab rail that could in worst case scenario have to take the force of someone slipping / falling and grabbing. I propose to fit a stud wall frame over the current wall (won't add too much thickness that will interfere with anything else) fitting a patress / support of timber to take the load. Any other options appreciated but this seems the only way to me and isn't to much hassle
