lame plumber

As per usual, the date for my op is nigh, in at 0900 Monday. So now I am thinking of all the reasons to chicken out, as I hate the idea of anyone sticking needles in and attacking me with a scalpel, but this time, they want to remove nerves etc to kill the pain in the wrist. I didn't mind them hacking at my knees in the past, or dentists drilling out fillings with no locals (such is my needle phobia), or stitching up various flesh wounds over the years. But to go and cut a few nerves in my mitt, I am bricking it???? Probably down to the fact that if they get it wrong, my ability to earn is cut short.

So the bloke who is happy to launch into anything mother nature can throw at us is now looking to run off and hide under the stairs, after all they even tricked me into letting them take blood last week, bleedin nurses. All in all. I am living in hope that the jnr docs go on a wildcat strike tomorrow 🙂

just get it done lame,it will be worth it in the end,if your in pain and they can relive it,got to be worth doing

fear is what makes us human, life without fear would be boring!!

Your be fine, you always have the left for a hand shandy

If his right hand is numb it'll feel like someone else is doing it....

Good luck lame, hope it all goes well. You know it's the right thing to do. Living in constant pain is going to cut short your ability to earn anyway...

Just get it done you big wuss!

I'll have you know I have lost weight recently.

they are chatting about nerve blocks, but they would have to tie me down as I am a prize wuss, cant stand the sight of my own claret.

but the op is just to denerve the shattered bones in my wrist, not repair them or anything. So on a diet of water from bout now till after its done. Hand shandies will never be the same again 🙂

Good luck for tomorrow lame, but you know what this means now don't you, the missus will have to take care of your needs no excuses your injured 😉

If it needs doing, get it done fella
You never know, without constant pain you may even be a bit more jovial (maybe not)
Show us a pic of your scars, I've got dupytrens disease in both hands and have to have my tendons sorted in my little finger and the one next to it (don't know the name) and also my thumb on the same hand (the right one) shortly
Had my left hand done a couple of years ago and wasn't much success, so can understand your hesitation

Lame ,

I also wish you a fast and painless op. I am pretty sure that you will manage as you already managed all the other operations.
Your fear is normal in its focus but just excessive .. Just try to overcome your fear/ phobia it ain't easy but possible. Nobody really likes having injections. Injections can hurt a bit but are a necessary and important part of health care, in my opinion. No need to feel embarrassed as everybody has a fear ...

Regards

Ron

Just hope he's not one of your many disgruntled customers.

Funnily enough I would have had to stay until midnight if I had a GA, so I opted for a nerve block. Into the op room I trundled, arm filled up with anaesthetic, watched it go white then purple, before a tent appeared and ruined the view, they clamped the old arm in the air and proceeded with op. A little voice from under the tent went "ouch, that hurts like buggery", the aneithetistic whipped off to said arm , filled it up again and returned to my head end for a chat! You stressed he asked, not me said I, doesnt hurt now, pains all gone. Still off he went and filled the other arm up with some really good stuff, floated around the ceiling for a bit, then woke up in the recovery ward. So I may have ****ed someone off, as they filled me with rohipnol, I think , to remove the memory of being a bit like a sunday carvery. Worst bit was I found the whole thing really interesting up to the knife in the arm feeling...... whenI became a little distracted...
