Went to service one of these today and was working fine when I got there, I checked the safety and let it lock out then turned it off and cleaned the condense, and checked it over, when I turned it back on nothing display was blank! Checked voltage at board was ok. Rang gloworm and told me to unplug a few connections and check for voltage at a certain point was 15v doc which it wasn't, so they said new board, but try warming it with a hair drier to get it going again.
i did this and it sprang back into life. Stuck the analyser in it and the readings were off the chart, the analyser was beeping like mad almost straight away.
i Let it cool down and took the burner out and the heat exchanger was slightly black coloured, I brushed it out and flushed it with water and brushed off the burner and re assembled, and the results were still the same...

I went and got a new board to rule that out as when the boiler was switched off again the old board needed re heating to get it to work! With the new board it's got power ok now but still the bad readings! Flue is ok it's vertical straight up through a flat roof and makes no difference whether the front cover is off or not to the readings.

any ideas glow worm tech were closed by the time I returned with the new board.

Have you set up the co/co2 ratio properly? Gas rated it? Checked BP?

How can I set up the co/co2 ratio if it's going to damage my analyser? The readings were well above the 1000s ppm
Its a condenser so no BP
no I didn't get round to gas rating it

boards for that boiler are not cheap £200 from memory - they will come out and replace 5 major parts for £240

Sorry meant wp at inlet( enough gas ). Do you have the manual? If so it tells you on page 31 what to do, basically I would have everything ready and then wind the min/max out and start again

We are working for corgi home plan on this one and have advised them at every step what we have done and even said to get glow worm out, but they want us to carry on.

Yeah. Have the manual and know how to adjust it but it took my analyser half hr to settle after putting it in the flue.

I didn't check the inlet working pressure, I should have.......

Try winding the min/max screws out and then use your analyser and set up the boiler

did you fga it before doing anything, normally a good idea as then u know if you have buggered it or its kack already

Some one else working for corgi ! how do you find them ? always complaining about the cost of parts or how long the job takes, told them they need to get out of their nice warm office and try doing our job, cant see me doing it for much longer.

I work through someone else so I don't have to deal with any invoicing to them he sorts all that out.

we got corgi to get glow worm out on a fixed price in the end and they are changing the heat exchanger as they said it was blocked with soot, so it must of been running badly for a while, I wonder if they have to change the gas valve also

The gas valve will need adjusting, you're best taking a copy of the installation instructions with you. You could also ring gw and get them to give you the reset for the gas valve. Usually screw the adjustment all the way in or out and then count the turns from there.

Screw max screw half a turn and go from there, keep sticking FGA ( if Anton pull tube off machine it clears quicker) in and out until your near, gas valves are rubbish and move on their own, BTW PCB would have been fine until next power cut

Yeah in hind sight I should have adjusted the gas valve, but I'm still new the the break down game plus it was 6.30 on a Friday night.

Cool nice tip about the white vinegar. Are there any tips on an easy way to get the traps out of these glow worms and valliants ? I've had a couple recently where the tube that joins the bottom of the heat ex has gone hard and split on removal!

if the pipes gone brittle I sometimes flush water through the flue to clear trap - do it steady though
